TRIANGLE YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM


"Triangle Muslim Americans train their youth to be global citizens" :  
Concerned with the need to prepare their youth for global leardership positions, the Triangle Muslim Americans in collaboration with Duke University leadership program begin a pilot program on youth leadership in their communities.  Some of the programmatic areas to be addressed include

(1)  the Art of being with organizations,

(2) dealing with conflict in a productive way,

(3) working with different and/or difficult people,

(4) learning about yourself and then learning about others, and

(5) working with change within an organization.  All these will be addressed in the context of American political environment.  College students and graduating High schoolers are encouraged to apply.  For details, pick up the application forms at the door or download from the IAR, Cary Masjid, Durham Masjid, MAS and Shaw Masjid Websites.

A maximum of 20 candidates will be chosen.
Applications must be received by Monday June 9, 2008 for the summer 2008 cohort.  No applications received after the deadline will be considered.

Public Schools get taste of Islamic holiday spirit

The hefty baskets filled with chocolate, nuts and munchies and delivered Tuesday to

20 Wake County schools were not Christmas or New Year's gifts.

The local chapter of the Muslim American Society raised more than $2,000 to prepare

the baskets, given to teachers and school administrators to celebrate Islam's holiday of

Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, which begins today.more...
